18th Birthday of our Solar System

18th Birthday of our Solar System

Our galaxy is the Milky Way. The sun is located in one of its spiral arms, that is

in the arm of Orion-Swan. It orbits around the galaxy's center

completing one course in about 250 million years.

The full year is a galaxy year.

So now, the old Galactic Year ends, and a new year begins, because the Sun

along with Earth and other planets, once again found itself at the same point

as it was at the beginning of the last "year" 250 million years ago, that is

the solar system made a full cycle around the center of our galaxy.

Of course

no one can mention the exact date

year or century when the full cycle is or will be completed. We just know that

the event is about to happen

and it could be on the old New Year's Day (14 January).

And why not? - Very likely. Therefore, the people of

the Earth can exchange congratulations on the advent of

a happy New Galactic Year.

By the way, if you measure Earth's history by Hungarian years, it means that it is already 18 years old in Hungary, which is how much time it has been since its formation.

In honor of this important event

 Jesse Christiansen

a researcher at NASA, shot an animated video. Our interstellar route

a kind of Star Track trail, was demonstrated by the Earth's "historical landmarks".

Dinosaurs have become such landmarks, and different species

have lived on Earth at different times.

Dinosaurs emerged

at the beginning of the last Hungarian year.

It culminated in "May, June and July"

at a time when the Sun and Earth were on the other side of the Milky Way.

Until October, dinosaurs had no fears, until a giant asteroid arrived

and fell 66 million years ago in the Gulf of Mexico, killing dinosaurs

and making way for mammals. And then humans

multiplied by the end of December.

We live on Earth for

 "two weeks" or even less.

Who will stay on our planet by the end of the next Hungarian year

Will someone do a new animation and show what happened in

 the last 250 million years?
