Trump's paranoia reached a whole new level: "Are Google trying to manipulate me?"

In recent weeks, Donald Trump has asked his friends and advisers

"Are Google trying to manipulate me?"

According to two people familiar with the investigation, the former president's source of paranoia was the lack of an Android app for his struggling social media app

  • Truth Social. Since its launch in February
  • the app has only been available on Apple devices, leaving Android users
  • who account for nearly 40% of the U.S. mobile market

without access to the platform. This left Trump wondering about the product's status and whether his potential opponents in Google had any plans to reject it.

One source who discussed the topic with the two-time former president says

  • He is constantly hearing about how he was shown on Google and YouTube
  • including on the Truth Social website
  • and I think it takes [it] seriously.

(In some cases since last month, Trump has instead asked if Google is trying to "manipulate me" on Truth Social or simply wondered, "What is it with Google?")

TMTG CEO Devin Nunes, a former congressman and staunch Trump supporter

appears to play into Trump's concerns in a statement about the future availability of Truth Social Android, suggesting Google's approval of the app in its Play Store may be in doubt.

According to Nunes :

  1. Truth Social was planning to launch
  2. the app in web browsers at the end of Ma
  3. After that, we will launch the Android app..

Waiting for approval from Google! "

Trump hinted at Android availability during a rally in Ohio a week before the Nunes announcement, telling fans that "non-iPhone users are coming very soon" to the platform.

To the ears of conservatives, a censored big tech guy blocking the former president's app seems like a plausible story, but there's one problem: the former president's doubts about the Google plot seem to be entirely in his head.

According to a person familiar with the situation and two Trumpworld sources familiar with the situation, as of Tuesday, Truth Social did not submit the Android app to Google for review to approve the Play Store, Rolling Stone reports.

Google's representative declined to comment.

Truth Social's spokesman did not respond to a request for comment.

  • According to Truth Social's recent functionality
  • the Android app is still in development.

YouTube, part of the Google Empire, suspended Trump from the platform days after the Capitol rebellion, but the Google Play Store's terms of service are separate from YouTube and do not contain clear provisions that would ban Truth Social Android because of Trump's role as the company's president.

The lack of an Android app

and its current unavailability in the Play Store three months after its launch

is another stumbling block in Trump's brave rollout of his social media platform. In February

  • Nunes stated on Fox News that the company's "goal"
  • was to have the app "fully operational" by the "end of March
  •  but users, including the former president
  • continued to face problems until May.

Since February, the former President has contacted his advisers repeatedly, asking urgent questions such as

"what's going on" with Truth Social?

On numerous occasions, Trump lamented the negative press surrounding the app's rollout, demanding to know why his new website did not crush his competitors from the MAGA app.

According to two people familiar with the situation, former President Donald Trump Jr. ' One such source described Trump Jr. 's actions as an emergency "rescue mission."

Limited access to Truth Social's "soft launch" for iPhone users who subscribed to what disgruntled MAGA supporters claimed was a long, confusing and account-inducing queue.

Trump hoped Truth Social would challenge, in part, the Big Tech social media networks that fired him from their platforms in the wake of the Capitol rebellion he instigated, but the app's downloads declined after an initial surge in interest after its launch.

Trump is "generally obliged to post any social media post on Truth Social and may not post the same post on another social media site for 6 hours".)

After weeks of non-publication :

the former president returned online to his platform, issuing a series of "reTruths" (retweeting its brand) and statements

including a request that supporters of Madison Cawthorne forgive his "foolish mistakes" when he faced a difficult primary. (No, they didn't).

In his radical speech, Trump also began promoting the social media company.

"Have you seen the truth?

" It works fantastically. It's new and popular, and it's actually much better than Twitter. Trump said on Sunday at a rally in Austin, Texas: "It is... It's exploding on Twitter. "
