The Department of Defense announced that Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin will hold a new meeting

Countries providing military aid to Ukraine on September 8 at the Ramstein base in Germany.

A statement released by the Ministry on Monday read :

"Secretary Austin has once again called on defence ministers and senior military officials from around the world to discuss the ongoing crisis in Ukraine and the various security issues facing US allies and partners."

This meeting usually brings together representatives from some 40 countries that coordinate the supply of weapons and ammunition to Ukrainian military personnel.

Ramstein's base last April received the first such meeting. Since then, similar meetings have been held monthly face-to-face or via video conference.

Russia had sent NATO countries protest notes for arms supplies to Ukraine.

The Russian Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov, has indicated more than once that all shipments of weapons intended for the Ukrainian military will be a legitimate target for Russia.

For its part, the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that NATO countries "play with fire" when arms are transferred to Ukraine.

The Russian presidential spokesman, Dmitry Peskov, said that Ukraine's supply of weapons by the West did not help the success of the Russian-Ukrainian negotiations and would have negative effects.

Pentagon: Some types of weapons from the new package will not arrive in Ukraine until one or three years later

The Pentagon announced that some types of weapons contained in
the new military aid package for Ukraine

announced by Washington on Wednesday will not arrive until one to three years from now.

US Deputy Secretary of Defense Colin Cal told a press conference on Wednesday:

"The weapons systems in this package, we are talking about the systems that will take months to sign contracts."

"Before you arrive in Ukraine, it will in some cases be one year and in some other cases two or three years."

The new aid package was calculated in the long run and should support Kiev in the coming years.

The priority was to provide Ukraine with GMLRS missiles destined for HIMARS systems to deter Russian forces.
