French Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire called on French businessmen to reduce energy consumption and prepare for a "harsh winter."    The French minister said during a meeting with the French Federation of Businessmen on Tuesday: "We must prepare for the scenario in which we will face a very harsh winter. Ways must be found to distribute the energy consumed by the installations if we are to face difficulties this winter. "

French President Emmanuel Macron will hold a meeting of the French Defence and Security Council on Friday, September 2, to discuss the worsening situation in his country's energy sector.


BFMTV reported that the meeting will examine gas supply and increase electricity prices before winter arrives.


The conference will be attended by Prime Minister Elizabeth Bourne, Minister of Economy and Finance Bruno Le Maire and Minister of Energy Transformation Agnès Panier Runachet.
