Putin announces partial mobilization of reserve forces and those with combat experience

President Vladimir Putin today confirmed his support for the accession to Russia of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk and the provinces of Kherson and Zaparugeh, and announced the partial mobilization of reserve forces.

Speaking this morning to the Russian people, Putin said :

Putin: The regime in Kyiv made "rosophobia" (Russian-phobia) his main weapon, and made the Ukrainian people fodder for the cannon.

Preliminary results of the withdrawal of Russian troops from the Kharkov region

It is undeniable that the "repositioning of Russian forces" in the Kharkov region, in the words of the Russian Ministry of Defence, was a very unpleasant surprise to Russian society.

However, the significance of this event should not be overstated. It is neither control nor loss of these territories that determines the outcome of the war.

Last spring :

when Russian troops were withdrawn from the Kiev region and other areas west of Kharkov, the Russian army could stop anywhere, including leaving the Kharkov region.

• It was then necessary to provide a buffer zone to ensure the security of the republics of Donetsk and Lugansk

• That was a political priority, and that requirement needed to be met.

• But the exact location of the front line's passage, whether 50 kilometres closer or further, is not very important.

Under this model, control of the Kharkov area is of little interest at this stage.

• However, there are undeniable negative repercussions, following the withdrawal of Russian troops

• Ukrainian forces began clearing the local population

• Anyone seen as sympathetic to Russia or cooperating with Russian forces was killed or arrested.

• Not everyone who wished to leave for Russia could do so.

The vote to join Russia has also been postponed at the very least.

I may be wrong, but Putin's goal :

 if I properly understand his strategy, is first and foremost to take economic measures to force the West to recognize Russia's and Ukraine's interests to surrender.

That is, confrontation is supposed to be long and slow, or to stop altogether or on the contrary, while economic measures play a key role. 

The military operation could also be divided into phases, and it was not very important for Russia to extend its control over that small or other region of Ukraine.

It should be noted here :

The success of Ukrainian forces would not have been possible without the massive supply of Western weapons, the training of Ukrainian forces by Western States, the provision of intelligence and the direct command of Ukrainian forces by the United States of America and the West.

At the same time, there is an escalation in the other direction

Ukraine through constant artillery bombardment has destroyed the infrastructure of the nuclear power plant in Zaporoje, prompting the closure of all reactors and lack of electricity in Inirgudar.
