Lynn Tracy is a professional member of the US diplomatic service and served as the US deputy ambassador to Moscow between 2014 and 2017.


  • Tracy received a bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia
  • a doctorate in law from the University of Akron, Ohio
  • and a distinguished honour award in recognition of her performance as Vice
  • President of the United States Diplomatic Mission in Moscow
  • as well as her proficiency in Russian.


Lynn Tracy has been the United States Ambassador to the Republic of Armenia since 2019 and was Senior Russian Adviser to the Eurasian Affairs Office of the United States Department of State and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Central Asia in the South and Central Asia Affairs Office from 2012 to 2014.


From 2010 to 2011, she served as Deputy Head of Mission at the United States Embassy in Ashgabat


Turkmenistan, and as Principal Officer of the United States Consulate in Peshawar, Pakistan, from 2006 to 2009, where she received the Secretary of State's award for the tournament.


Tracy was the Chief Official of the United States Embassy Branch Office in Astana, Kazakhstan, from 2004 to 2006, responsible for other overseas missions to the United States Embassies in Kabul, Afghanistan, and Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, and served in the United States State Special Envoy's Office from 2000 to 2001.



Washington Nominates Lynn Tracy as Ambassador to Moscow


The United States nominated diplomat Lynn Tracy as Washington's ambassador to Moscow, expressing the hope that she would soon be appointed.


  • Tracy has served as the United States Ambassador to Armenia since 2019
  • while the United States Ambassador to Russia
  • John Sullivan, has served for three years
  • but he recently terminated his work ahead of schedule due to personal circumstances.


The United States Administration hoped to appoint her as soon as possible, replacing Sullivan


and her timing and formal appointment would depend on whether Russia agreed to accept her as ambassador at a time of great tension between her and Washington.


The US side has already submitted Tracy's papers to Moscow awaiting reply, and the US State has not formally commented on this information.
