Coffee "offers"

an amazing health benefit to the elderly

A recent study found that drinking coffee may provide a wonderful benefit to

the elderly that enhances their quality of life in old age.

The study :

which was conducted on 1,161 people over the age of 55, revealed that drinking

coffee may help maintain muscle strength and reduce the risk of falls in old age.

Experts found that coffee :

consumption is associated with a lower risk of asthenia

a condition of muscle weakness and extreme fatigue that

increases the likelihood of falls and hampers recovery from illness and injury.

The results showed that :

people who drank 2 to 3 cups of coffee a day saw a 64% reduction in the risk of

developing asthenia compared to those who drank a smaller amount.

Professor Margaret Olthoff :

from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, said that the exact reasons for this benefit

are not yet clear, but she believes that the antioxidants found in coffee

may be the main reason for this positive effect.

She added :

"Drinking coffee has become an essential part of many people's routines

and they are constantly looking for ways to stay healthy as they age.

"Our results highlight the beneficial relationship between daily coffee

consumption and a lower risk of frailty, which may promote healthy aging.".

Previous studies :

conducted on mice also showed that coffee :

may contribute to reducing age-related muscle loss. Coffee also contains chemicals

that may help get rid of old cells and stimulate muscle growth

which enhances their health and strength.

The study :

funded by the Institute for Scientific Information on Coffee

was published in the European Journal of Nutrition.

Drinking coffee daily helps prolong life

A study conducted by scientists from the University of Coimbra in Portugal

showed that drinking coffee daily helps prolong life.

The scientists explained that :

  • during their study, they analyzed data from 85 previous studies
  • which included hundreds of thousands of residents of Europe
  • North and South America, Australia and Asia.

The goal was :

to find out how coffee affects health :

and mortality rates, and they found that drinking 3 cups of coffee a day increases

life expectancy by 1.84 years, and those who drank coffee on

a daily basis were less likely to develop serious diseases.

The results of :

the study also showed that coffee :

  • plays an important role in maintaining the functions of many body systems
  • such as the muscular system and the nervous system
  • and strengthens the immune system.

It also reduces the incidence of heart disease :

  1. vascular disease
  2. cancers
  3. stroke
  4. diabetes
  5. dementia
  6. and depression.

Cancer-Prophylaxis :

Studies indicate that coffee may contribute to reducing the risk of some types of

cancer, such as colorectal cancer and uterine cancer. Research has shown that

drinking coffee may reduce the risk of bowel cancer.
