A hidden factor behind erectile dysfunction
Dr.Dimitri Morozov, a urologist and andrologist, points out that maintaining men's
health depends on many factors, including adequate intake of zinc and vitamin D.
According to the doctor
a deficiency of
- some nutrients leads to erectile dysfunction and fertility in men
- which later leads to problems in family relationships
- and the greatest danger is male infertility.
He pointed out that among all the vitamins and microelements necessary for
the functions of the male reproductive system, zinc and vitamin D are of
particular importance.
- The concentration of zinc in semen plasma greatly exceeds
- its concentration in the blood, which confirms
- its importance for the ejaculation process.
The doctor said:
"We often discuss the benefits of iron, calcium and iodine, but we are virtually
ignorant of the vital role of zinc, although even its small amounts play
a crucial role in supporting the hormonal system in men.
The most important of :
these roles is related to the production of testosterone
a low level of which results in poor libido and erections."
He added that zinc deficiency can lead to secretory infertility, where sperm lose
their motility and activity, and their overall quality deteriorates.
Therefore
it is advisable to focus on eating seafood rich in zinc
as well as nuts such as walnuts and almonds.
He also stressed the importance of vitamin D for men's health, which is a vitamin
that the body can produce naturally provided that the skin is exposed to sunlight
for a sufficient period. This vitamin is also found in fatty marine fish, eggs, butter
sour cream, and other foods.
- Vitamin D deficiency
- just like zinc
- affects hormonal balance in men.
Studies have shown that both vitamin D and zinc contribute to:
- Increased enzyme activity in the cells of the testicles
- Increase the volume of ejaculation
- Improve mature and high-energy sperm count
The doctor says:
"Many people are deficient in vitamin D, although it is found in animal food
sources.
The reason is that a person needs between 400 to 600 international units of it
daily
and to meet this food need alone, he must eat approximately a kilogram of butter
or beef liver, or about 24 eggs, or drink several liters of milk daily.
Of course
- no one can afford such a diet
- whose health harms may be greater
- than its benefits."
He adds that
lack of exposure to sunlight is also a major cause of vitamin D deficiency
which may lead to decreased production of sex hormones such as androgens
and thus to erectile dysfunction and decreased fertility in men
whether in middle age or even in physically active young men.
The doctor
confirms that most problems with sexual desire
and reproductive ability can be treated if the cause is due to a deficiency of mineral
elements or metabolic disorders. In such cases, it is often sufficient to modify
the diet "
- and conduct tests for the level of vitamin D and zinc
- which may lead to a noticeable improvement
- without the need for complex drug interventions.
