Putin:

Russia prefers to stop hostilities in

 Ukraine as soon as possible

Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia prefers to stop hostilities in Ukraine as soon as possible.

"I would like to point out that the visit to Alaska was timely and very useful," Putin said during a meeting with the leadership of the presidential administration, the government, the Duma, ministries and government agencies following the Russian-American talks.

Putin confirmed that

he discussed with Trump the causes of the crisis in Ukraine, saying: "We had the opportunity, which is what actually happened, to talk about the roots and causes of this crisis", stressing that "eliminating these root causes is what should form the basis of the settlement".

He pointed out that

  • "Russia respects the position of the American administration
  • which sees the need to end hostilities quickly, and we also want that
  • and we want to move forward in resolving all issues by peaceful means".

Putin concluded:

"There was an opportunity in Alaska to present Russia's position calmly and in detail. We discussed ways to resolve the Ukrainian crisis on a fair basis."

Putin and Trump held talks in Alaska on Saturday, where the two leaders met at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base in Anchorage for a meeting that lasted two hours and 45 minutes.

The meeting

Russian MP:

  1. The next meeting
  2. between Putin and Trump
  3. may be held in Russia "very soon"

Anatoly Aksakov, head of the Financial Markets Committee of the Russian State Duma, said that US President Donald Trump's visit to Russia is "very likely" and may take place soon.

Asked about Trump's visit to Russia

Aksakov said:

"I think there is a high probability that Trump will visit Russia, he will go to Kamchatka or even to Vladivostok in the Russian Far East. It will be interesting."

"Anyway, that's a good sign," he added. The meeting, the red carpet, and Trump's applause... All this shows his great respect for the Russian President.

He continued:

"I believe that within a short time the meeting can be held, this time in Russia". This is very important and this is also a good sign, as intense interaction yields results. Their face-to-face communication is also a good sign.

I think this is anyway a big step towards changing the world.

Because Trump invited Putin and they met personally.

He considered this a turning point in global geopolitics

and said:

"It is wonderful that Trump is ready". Despite the pressures exerted on him, internally and externally, he acts based on his understanding and the necessity of action. He is aware of his personal responsibility and his historical mission.

In any case :

  1. I believe that a meeting
  2. will be held soon between
