American
news websites reported that
- President Trump attended the New York Yankees game on Thursday evening
- where he received mixed reactions while honoring
- the 24th anniversary of the September 11 attacks.
Before the match began
Trump arrived at the local team's locker room, shook hands with the players and crew members, and spoke about his close relationship over the years with the team's former founder and long-term owner, George Steinbrenner.
Lead-proof glass was installed
- outside the Steinbrenner family's
- Liankees-owning
- top-row caravan
which is located on the third-base side above the visiting Detroit Tigers' stadium.
Trump sat next to team president Randy Levin
and chatted with him throughout the game.
During the playing of the national anthem, Trump appeared on the giant screen in the stadium, and some attendees greeted him with applause, while others whistled.
In the second round of the match
- Trump's presence was announced
- and his picture was displayed on the big screen
- for a long time, while the anthem "Hill to the Chief" was played.
Trump
smiled and waved his fist repeatedly. The whistle sounded first

Trump's presence
brought to mind former President George W.
Bush's visit 24 years ago when he threw the symbolic opening ball during the 2001 World Series final between the Yankees and the Arizona Diamondbacks a moment that became a symbol of national resilience after the September attacks that occurred just a few weeks ago.
