South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem showed President Joe Biden how to do it and banned Chinese social media app TikTok from all state organs that described the platform as a threat to national security.



Governor Kristi Noem signed Executive Order 2022-10

  • banning Chinese social media platform TikTok for government agencies
  • employees and contractors using state devices.

by TikTok due to data collection on behalf of

the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).



Governor Kristi Noem said

South Dakota will not have a role in intelligence gathering for countries that hate us.

The Chinese Communist Party uses the information it collects on TikTok to manipulate the American people, and they collect data from devices accessing the platform .


The Order shall apply immediately and shall apply to South Dakota employees and agencies, including persons and entities contracting with the State, committees, authorities or agents.



The order prohibits the download

  • use or website of
  • the TikTok app on state-owned
  • or state-leased electronic devices capable of
  • connecting to the Internet.

Democratic Senator Mark Warner admitted that Trump was right when the former president expressed concerns about the application.
