The US authorities :
are launching an urgent investigation after
a "bird saucer" was spotted in the sky in New York.
A video circulating on social media raised speculation about a "flying saucer"
in New York :
prompting the US authorities to open an urgent investigation.
Passenger Michelle Reyes, who was on a commercial flight over La Guardia airport
on March 25 :
captured video of a mysterious "flying cylinder" from the window.
She said:
- "The first thing I did was email the FAA to let them know what I saw.
- It may have been a safety hazard, but unfortunately I have not received
- a response from them, nor have they identified my e-mail ".
The passenger noted that another person on board also saw the body
and was stunned :
adding:
"It's nerve-wracking to see someone else what I saw."
Meanwhile :
Thomas Wirtman, director of Mutual UFO Network in Ohio
reviewed the footage in circulation, said the object was moving at about 2,500 feet
and was "relatively close" to the plane as it prepared to land.
Wirtman added that the height :
- shape and location of the object near a major
- commercial flight route made it unlikely that it would be a helicopter
"Drones are not supposed to fly at this altitude at least legally,"
Wirtman said.
If it relates to military defence or law enforcement
it will normally not be seen very close to a major aviation corridor ".
The man who spent years looking for evidence of interplanetary visitors
added:
"It could be a potential danger, it doesn't seem to be a commercial
plane because I don't see features like wings or tail."
The plane on board Reyes was about 15 minutes from La Guardia Airport
and was likely travelling at 230 mph when the video was filmed.
Meanwhile :
an FAA official said on Thursday that the agency had "no reports"
from pilots about the mystery crash, adding that a competent research
and investigation team had been assigned on the subject.
